Blue Ridge/Secure Virtual Ethernet Service was launched by Blue Ridge Networks today. The new solution can offer capabilities significantly beyond Verizon's Virtual Private LAN.
The Blue Ridge/Secure Virtual Ethernet Service is carrier-agnostic with backup redundancy for 100% uptime, and is implemented with high levels of security, certifications and standards that have already been proven globally within the intelligence community. It offers high levels of business continuity for organizations and users world-wide.
A recent research report conducted by Frost & Sullivan claimed that legacy services such as ATM, frame relay and private line had been steadily losing ground to such newer technologies as IP. This trend was expected to continue as enterprises sought more bandwidth, convergence, better management and increasing value-added services for their enterprise WAN expenditures.

"We are pleased to introduce this privacy solution that allows organizations to exploit the tremendous cost advantages available with public IP-based networks. Enterprises are no longer locked into costly carrier-based solutions built upon older infrastructure technologies. We are very proud of our world-class service and proven record of customer security that exceeds that of any carrier-based solution." said Mike Fumai, CEO of Blue Ridge Networks.

A typical challenge for enterprises is the necessity to support the growth of branch offices, and thus the popularity of managed service provider solutions is well understood. Quoting from Network World newsletter, the average number of branch offices is growing by 11% annually, but in 2007 the average growth in IT budgets is only 4%. The Blue Ridge Networks offering realizes immediate savings to help manage this budget dilemma. This year, 46% of organizations use managed service providers to manage branch locations, up from 27% in 2005.                         Functionality is comprehensive and scaleable, with an ability to provide full mesh connectivity among large numbers of sites. The service can operate within a range of 250 kilobits to 250 megabits per site and on as many sites as needed. The Blue Ridge/Secure Virtual Ethernet Service is available today, with pricing as low as $130 a month per site including bandwidth, or less using existing bandwidth. The company's products have a proven ability to exploit the advantages of the internet and are relied upon by hundreds of large enterprises.
