The fact that Desktop Alert has been procured for usage in Contingency Operating Base Speicher Iraq, to bolster force protection has been announced by the leader in network-centric emergency notification systems being purchased by the U.S. Army today, Desktop Alert, Inc.Formerly FOB Speicher (Al Sahra Airfield under Saddam Hussein), COB Speicher is a US Army Contingency Operating Base, was previously a Forward Operating Base but reassigned as a COB because of its size. Installations are located near Tikrit in northern Iraq. The base is the location of the headquarters of the Multi-National Division, North, (MND-N). It is named after a U.S. Navy pilot who has been Missing In Action in Iraq since 1991 when his F/A-18 Hornet was shot down by an Iraqi Airforce MiG-25 Foxbat, named Scott Speicher.
