FileEngine is a feature-complete file server appliance brought  to businesses through a unique distribution and service model. Server Partners is now the only Novell OEM to offer SUSE Linux Enterprise Server bundled with a robust server hardware package included as part of a low-cost managed IT service for small businesses. Customers subscribe to FileEngine's "No Worries" service plan and receive the server, installation, 24/7 monitoring, remote administration, updates and a full replacement warranty, all for under $8 a day. Server Partners announced an OEM agreement with Novell of Waltham, Mass. Server Partners will use SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell in its next generation of free FileEngine servers.

Kim J. Brand, CEO of Server Partners, stated: "We are excited about this partnership. Offering a free server with a "No Worries" promise and Novell's operating system will give millions of businesses the file server choice they've been looking for." Brand added, "Linux is already known for its reliability, economy and freedom. Novell is a recognized technology leader with decades of experience and credibility. The combination presents a compelling value proposition."

The solution offers a simple alternative to other file servers that use advanced software with burdensome maintenance requirements. Network World called FileEngine a 'Category Breaker' due to its combination of functoins that are not available anywhere else at any price-let alone for free. Now, FileEngine will leverage Novell software to offer a low-cost, safe and safe way for businesses to share the right data with the right people. FileEngine's predictable total cost of ownership (TCO) includes multiple backup systems, backup media and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS.) In addition, there are no per-user license charges.

Unlike other servers, FileEngine is set up prior to delivery and arrives ready to work. This includes set-up for the users, groups and File Storage Areas needed by the business. Once installed, FileEngine's WatchBot® system 'checks in' regularly to report on server health parameters. The same system offers secure remote administration by trained FileEngineers® should it be needed.

Justin Steinman, director of marketing for Linux and Open Platforms at Novell, stated: "Small businesses can now enjoy the enterprise-class security and reliability of running FileEngine on top of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. FileEngine running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server offers a compelling value to small businesses who are looking for a file management solution designed to meet the specific needs of their companies. What our customers love most is the predictable cost and no longer having to worry about the safety or security of their information."
