The company named Shunra recently launched its network simulation product called Shunra VE SMB Edition. This is a software version of the company's award-winning enterprise-scale Shunra VE hardware solution. The program simulates a point-to-point network link, giving users the ability to test the performance of critical business applications under existing and/or projected network conditions - without the risk, cost, or logistical complexity of testing over the production WAN. With this program, people can see exactly how the other applications perform at remote end users' desktops, and can find and fix problems as well as determine network capacity requirements - all before rollout into production. Shunra VE SMB Edition is already utilized by companies such as Alcon, Digital Harbor, go2call, GFI, Flarion, Tetra Pak, The Carphone Warehouse, and the US Peace Corps.

Thomas Charlton, Shunra's CEO, stated: "Small and medium-sized businesses have the same network-related application performance problems as large enterprises, but they lack the products to test and solve these problems. The launch of Shunra VE SMB Edition was driven by strong demand from smaller enterprises for a version of our best-in-class network simulation software technology that is tailored to meet their specific needs. Shunra VE SMB Edition provides these businesses with the right solution at the right price. It enables them to test application performance over the network and ensure service levels to remote end users -- before rollout -- and thus avoid post-deployment performance problems, troubleshooting and project overrun costs."

This software is designed and priced specifically for small and medium-sized businesses. The program is easy to install and use, and does not require any ramp-up time or training. It can be deployed on a client, server, or on a dual NIC PC to act as a router-based WAN simulator. Shunra VE SMB Edition simulates all the impairments that characterize a typical production network, including latency, packet loss, jitter, router queue management algorithms, and bandwidth constraints up to 10 Mbps. All tests that are done can be fully customizable, repeated, and the process can be automated.

Charlton added: "With Shunra VE SMB Edition, we round out our family of software and hardware network simulation products. We now deliver the full range of network simulation solutions needed to support the application lifecycle at any organization -- from small businesses to multinational enterprises. None of our competitors have either the breadth or the depth of software and hardware solutions we have, which reinforces, yet again, our leadership of the industry,"
