SIEM Brought to the iSeries platform

Prism Microsystems, upholding its commitment of providing comprehensive, cross-platform Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) capabilities, announced a strategic partnership with a leading provider of software and consulting services to the IBM midrange community, Patrick Townsend and Associates. The companies will deliver, together, a powerful and cost-effective way to correlate log data from IBM iSeries servers with data from other sources for centralized security monitoring that extends from the firewall to the application and database level.

Many companies depend on the IBM iSeries, as one of the more robust hardware platforms available today, to house mission-critical applications that process large volumes of sensitive data. It is therefore critical for the iSeries to integrate seamlessly into an overall enterprise security and compliance program. The iSeries today, like all platforms is far more vulnerable than before because of increased connectivity and multiple access points - the very things that make systems susceptible to costly data breaches. EventTracker and the Alliance LogAgent for System i, by Patrick Townsend and Associates, provide together comprehensive security monitoring for large enterprises with their combined capabilities. While EventTracker agents collect all log data from other sources including SNMP devices, Solaris BSM, Unix/Linux, Windows, Checkpoint Firewalls and software applications, Alliance LogAgents extract all IBM system i journal entries in real-time and convert them to the syslog format. This data is then sent to the EventTracker console in real-time where it is correlated and made available for review and reporting.
