Leading online backup service IDrive (http://www.idrive.com ) announced recently a comprehensive web based management utility to add to its feature set. This lets users directly edit their backup sets (a collection of files/folders that are required for backup) and set scheduling parameters including frequency and notification. Even on the go, this puts them essentially in control of their critical backup activities. This also lets an administrator manage backups for a branch office computers from a central console via web.
The tools also optionally let users, as an added bonus, execute web based desktop search. Users will have fast access to their PC Data either via the backups or by direct access to their desktop via desktop search from anywhere, via web.
"It's a critical requirement we needed to address with the growing number of users on our service who wish to alter their scheduled backup jobs but who are not in front of the physical machine on which the client application has been installed. This feature comes in handy and it works in a seamless integrated manner", Says a Project Lead at IDrive, Mr. Suresh Krishnan.
Integrating web based controls into the backup desktop application will extend usability of IDrive. This will enable centralized control and Management of online backup for an entire branch office or multiple departments from anywhere.

IDrive also plans to use this key feature for a proces known as 'Managed Backups', in which its reseller market where resellers actively manage the backups of their clients.
